UAS that is invisible? Maybe miniaturization is not the only way to achieve it!
EXPAL will participate in HOMSEC 2013, introducing some of its most innovative solutions in the security area. Among other products, there will be introduced SHEPHERD-MIL, an UAS with the appearance of a native bird with the same flight performance. Main advantages of this UAS are excellent glide-ratio and noiseless motor which makes SHEPHERD-MIL invisible, silent and unobtrusive in sensitive missions.
The initial purpose of SHEPHERD-MIL UAS was a bird strike avoidance system, but currently it is often used in situations where the safety and protection are key. It is also particularly good for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance missions. Amongst other use belong border surveillance missions, firefighting, and anti-drug trafficking operations. Furthermore, EXPAL has adapted and integrated the SHEPHERD-MIL into its Fire Support System (TECHFIRE), transforming the SHEPHERD-MIL into a specific version, Unmanned Forward Observer (UFO-UAV) which is used a complement for the forward observer.
