CyPhy Works, an innovative robotics company, introduced two revolutionary small Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs): EASE and PARC.
EASE
EASE stands for The Extreme Access System for Entry. This drone is designed for indoor flying and should help police, soldiers and inspectors to remain at the safe distance. Main advantages of the drone are long endurance, portability and lack of GPS navigation. EASE is also suitable for search & rescue actions, hostage situations or bridge and building inspection.
PARC
Or The Persistent Aerial Reconnaissance and Communications is basically a quadrocopter designed to fly vertically and remain hovering in a particular place for nearly unlimited duration without operator intervention. Thanks to the fact that the PARC flies by itself, there is no long training required for operating it. Thus, operator can focus on the data that PARC obtains, instead of controling the system itself.
Now what makes these drones so revolutionary?
Both EASE and PARC use microfilament technology that transmits power, ethernet protocol communications and HD video to the Ground Control Station (GCS). Some might say that controling UAVs by some kind of wire is a step back. I beg to differ – unlike from conventional radio frequency control, the direct microfilament connection makes communications more secure and reliable. This way these UASs are capable of providing high quality, full frame rate, unbroken, High Definiton video that no other small UAS can match.
This breakthrough microfilament technology can boast on:

Continuous, unbroken, 720p, 30fps, HD video. Not just high definition resolution, it’s actually high-quality video.
- Secure Communication
The robot and the GCS are directly connected to each other. The communications can’t be intercepted because it isn’t radiated into the environment.
- Unlimited Duration
The power system can deliver up to 1000W peak and 800W of power indefinitely.
- Reliable Command and Control
The robot and the GCS are directly connected to each other. Loss of command and control of the robot never happens because the system doesn’t rely on RF comms.
